DFL releases exact schedules for Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 fixtures until start of April
20 December 2019 – The DFL Deutsche Fußball Liga today released the exact schedules for the Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 fixtures up until Matchday 28 (3 to 6 April 2020). “Der Klassiker” between Borussia Dortmund and FC Bayern München, will take place on the Saturday evening of Matchday 28 (4 April, 18:30 CET). Borussia Dortmund and FC Schalke 04 will meet in the “Revierderby” on the Saturday afternoon of Matchday 26 (14 March, 15:30 CET).
This season, there will again be five matches on Sunday afternoon and five fixtures on Monday evening that will primarily be used to ease the strain on the clubs participating in the UEFA Europa League: Eintracht Frankfurt, Bayer 04 Leverkusen and VfL Wolfsburg. To make it easier for clubs and fans to plan their travels, the latest Bundesliga fixtures already cover the next but one round of the Europa League. Accordingly, they include two fixtures on Monday evening (Matchdays 23 and 26, 20:30 CET) and two fixtures on Sunday afternoon (Matchdays 24 and 27, 13:30 CET).
In Bundesliga 2 there will be no Monday night fixtures on Matchdays 23 and 26, as the already mentioned Bundesliga matches are scheduled for these days. However, Matchday 28 will see a Monday night clash between VfB Stuttgart and Hamburger SV, the two clubs that are currently third and second in the table respectively (6 April, 20:30 CET).
The next exact schedules for the Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 are expected to be announced in calendar week 13 of 2020, between 23 and 27 March, after the end of the quarter-finals of the European club competitions.
