DFL releases exact schedule for Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 fixtures until end of February
7 January 2021 – DFL Deutsche Fußball Liga today published the schedule for the Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 fixtures for matchdays 19 to 23 of the current 2020-21 season.
Matches now confirmed in the Bundesliga programme include the top match between RB Leipzig – currently second in the table – and third-placed Bayer 04 Leverkusen (matchday 19, 30 January, 6:30 p.m. CET), the Rhine derby between Borussia Mönchengladbach and 1. FC Köln (matchday 20, 6 February, 6:30 p.m. CET) and the “Revierderby” between FC Schalke 04 and Borussia Dortmund (matchday 22, 20 February, 6:30 p.m. CET). FC Bayern München’s participation in the FIFA Club World Cup in February as the winner of the UEFA Champions League also needed to be factored into the schedule that has now been set. Since the Munich club is playing two matches (Monday, 8 February; Thursday, 11 February) at the competition in Qatar between two Bundesliga matchdays, it will play Bundesliga matches against Hertha Berlin on the Friday before the Club World Cup (matchday 20, 5 February, 8:30 p.m. CET) and against DSC Arminia Bielefeld on the Monday after the tournament (matchday 21, 15 February, 8:30 p.m. CET).
In Bundesliga 2, matchdays 19 to 23 will include a number of duels between clubs that are currently in the upper reaches of the table. For example, Fortuna Düsseldorf will face Holstein Kiel on matchday 20 (8 February, 8:30 p.m. CET), Hamburger SV will meet SpVgg Greuther Fürth on matchday 21 (13 February, 1:00 p.m. CET), and Fürth will take on Kiel on matchday 22 (22 February, 8:30 p.m. CET). Matchday 23 will see the Hamburg derby between FC St. Pauli and Hamburger SV take place (1 March, 8:30 p.m. CET).
The next announcement of exact fixtures for the Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 will be released provisionally in calendar week six between 8 and 12 February.
