Strategic partnership at league level: club talks concluded – DFL Executive Committee agree upon next steps

15 March 2023 – Following intensive discussions over recent weeks between the Management Board of the DFL Deutsche Fußball Liga and all 36 Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 clubs on the current situation regarding a possible strategic partnership at league level, during which details about specific considerations alongside the overall process were outlined, the DFL Executive Committee unanimously agreed upon the next steps.

Interested parties will thus soon be invited to submit preliminary, indicative offers for a time-limited minority interest in licensing revenue from the sale of Bundesliga rights. The findings from this market research will be presented to the clubs at an Extraordinary DFL Members Assembly. The intention of this assembly will not be to make final decisions but instead to confirm majority support for entering the next process phase, in which further negotiations will be conducted with individual interested parties on the basis of the indicative offers.
