Bundesliga: Match between Bayer 04 Leverkusen and 1. FC Köln rearranged

28 April 2023 – The Bundesliga Rhine derby between Bayer 04 Leverkusen and 1. FC Köln on Matchday 31 of the current 2022-23 season has been rearranged. The fixture was originally scheduled for 3:30 p.m. CEST on Sunday 7 May but will now take place two days earlier at 8:30 p.m. CEST on Friday 5 May.

The change has been made in response to an urgent request from Bayer 04 Leverkusen and only following consultation with local authorities, amongst others. The reason for this exceptional situation is to give Bayer 04 Leverkusen, a semi-finalist in the UEFA Europa League and thus the last remaining German participant in a European club competition, more time to prepare for its forthcoming first-leg encounter against AS Roma in Rome on 11 May.

The new arrangements will not affect the match between 1. FSV Mainz 05 and FC Schalke 04 (at 8:30 p.m. CEST on Friday 5 May). Consequently, two matches will be played at the same time on Friday evening.
