Further improved visualisation of match data in football broadcasting
26 March 2024 – The importance of statistics and analyses in football is constantly increasing – not only in the sporting arena, but also in broadcast. The DFL Deutsche Fußball Liga and its media partners are also providing Bundesliga fans with ever more extensive match statistics in real time. Data services such as Bundesliga Match Facts powered by AWS give football fans even deeper insights into the action and allow them to discover new facets of their favourite teams and players.
The DFL is taking the next evolutionary step with the introduction of “Bundesliga In-Match Analysis” in order to visualise statistics in live broadcasts even better – and thus make them even easier to understand. In collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and graphics specialist Vizrt, an application has been developed that automatically generates video clips with the appropriate graphic elements for relevant match situations. Regardless of whether it is a goal with a particularly low goal probability or an exceptionally fast sprint – based on the Bundesliga Match Facts, the graphics solution from Vizrt will provide corresponding in-match clips in real time and thus simplify the analysis of the game. These graphically enhanced clips will also be available to the DFL’s national and international live partners for their further coverage of the matches.
Dennis Galejski, Head of Product Management at the DFL: “With Bundesliga In-Match-Analysis, we are taking the visualisation of the numerous available data to a new level. The automatically generated clips will further enrich the Bundesliga’s live broadcasts and be available to our media partners as attractive content.”
Bundesliga In-Match Analysis will be shown for the first time on match day 27 during the broadcast of Der Klassiker between FC Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund and will enrich the international feed and the DFL Tactical Feed of the encounter.
