Bundesliga 2: Exact schedule for first two matchdays of the 2024-25 season released

9 July 2024 – Following last week’s announcement that the opening game will see 1. FC Köln take on Hamburger SV (Friday, 2 August, 8:30 p.m. CEST), today the DFL Deutsche Fußball Liga has published the exact schedule for the fixtures for the first two matchdays of the 2024-25 Bundesliga 2 season.

On Matchday 1, the promoted club SSV Ulm 1846 will kick off with a home game against 1. FC Kaiserslautern on Sunday, 4 August (1:30 p.m.). SC Preußen Münster will play at SpVgg Greuther Fürth at the same time on Sunday, while the third promoted team, SSV Jahn Regensburg, will start on Saturday (3 August, 1 p.m.) at Hannover 96. FC Schalke 04 and Eintracht Braunschweig will play the first Saturday evening match of the new season (3 August, 8:30 p.m.).

The following week, Hamburger SV and Hertha BSC will meet on Saturday evening (August 10, 8:30 p.m.). On Matchday 2, there will also be a clash between the two promoted clubs SSV Jahn Regensburg and SSV Ulm 1846 (Friday, 9 August, 6:30 p.m.), while two clubs with a close fan friendship will face each other on Saturday: 1. FC Nürnberg and FC Schalke 04 (10 August, 1 p.m.).

From Matchday 2 onwards, two matches will be played on Fridays, four on Saturdays and three on Sundays. The next exact fixtures for the Bundesliga (Matchdays 1–5) and Bundesliga 2 (Matchdays 3–7) are expected to be made next week (15–19 July).
