24.05.2018 – After a one-year hiatus, the Bundesliga is again the European top league with the most goals per match. On average, 2.8 goals were scored per Bundesliga match in the 2017-18 season. The Premier League (England), La Liga (Spain), Serie A (Italy) and Ligue 1 (France) each had 2.7 goals per match. Before the 2016-17 season, the Bundesliga had been the European top league with the most goals per match for 26 years in a row.
In total, the 18 Bundesliga clubs scored 855 times in the last season’s 306 matches. Two of the highest-scoring matches with eight goals each were the 4:4 draws between Borussia Dortmund and FC Schalke 04 (13th matchday) and between Hannover 96 and Bayer 04 Leverkusen (17th matchday).
Bundesliga 2 also achieved an average of 2.8 goals per match in the 2017-18 season.
