30.10.2017 - Yasuhiko Okudera is the newest member of the DFL Deutsche Fußball Liga’s “Bundesliga Legends Network”, becoming the tenth former Bundesliga player to join this “team” of “Bundesliga Legends”, who operate as global brand ambassadors for the Bundesliga in important target markets. Okudera joined the Bundesliga as a player in 1977 from Japan and became a first-team regular at 1. FC Köln, and in his first season won the double of Bundesliga and DFB Cup. By the end of his career in 1986, he had made 234 Bundesliga appearances for Köln, Hertha BSC and SV Werder Bremen, scoring 26 goals. He also found the back of the net eight times in 25 Bundesliga 2 games.
Besides Yasuhiko Okudera, other members of the "Bundesliga Legends Network" are Lothar Matthäus, Paulo Sergio, Pavel Pardo, Wynton Rufer, Jörg Albertz, Bum-Kun Cha, Anthony Baffoe, Jiayi Shao and Steven Cherundolo. As faces of the Bundesliga, these former players attend fan and media events, act as coaches at football camps and appear at corporate events or as experts on television shows of partner broadcasters. Their role is to increase the popularity of the German top division globally, but especially in their native countries and in countries where they have a strong connection.
