Visual Toolbox: Highlighting Bundesliga content on streaming platforms
9 November 2023 – The International Product Portfolio (IPP) provides the DFL’s more than 70 international media partners with a wide and powerful range of products and services for their reporting about the Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2. But the IPP is also an innovation hotbed: Currently comprising over 50 products, it not only fully covers the needs of media partners but is constantly optimised and expanded by adding forward-looking technologies. To give all media partners, especially the growing number of OTT providers, as much creative freedom as possible in designing content for their own platforms, the DFL recently added the IPP Visual Toolbox to its range of innovative tools.
Appealing visuals, composed of photographic and graphical elements, play a growing role as an effective means to present online content to viewers. OTT platforms in particular, such as DAZN, ESPN+, Netflix and others, place visuals on their video selection pages to draw attention to their broadcasts. Eye-catching visuals are a key means for Bundesliga media partners to increase hit rates for football content offered on their OTT platforms.
The IPP Visual Toolbox is an efficient design tool the DFL provides to its media partners, enabling them to compose powerful images to enhance the visibility of Bundesliga content across all platforms.

Efficient visualisation tool for any platform
The IPP Visual Toolbox is an efficient visualisation tool designed for these purposes. It makes it easy for users to create visuals, graphics or icons intuitively with few clicks while remaining consistent with the Bundesliga product and brand language. The toolbox currently offers 65 templates that can be edited online with the help of a user interface provided by the Martrexo platform.
User-friendly features
Working with the tool is easy. Users have direct access to the current logos of all Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 clubs, as well as the large DFL image database from where they can retrieve and incorporate photos from all matchdays, along with content created during the Media Days. Plus, users are free to import images they have created themselves.
All this reduces the complexity of creating and editing visuals while minimising the volume of data that must be handled. DFL media partners offering OTT services can rely on a greatly simplified and streamlined workflow that saves them lots of time when building appealing visuals.
Time-saving and versatile tool
The IPP Visual Toolbox is an extension of the Martrexo DFL Enterprise Marketing Platform which has been used by the DFL successfully for its e-mail-based digital communications for years, including newsletters, press releases and stakeholder communication. It is seamlessly integrated in the DFL system environment. Martrexo is provided by Webstrategy GmbH based in Kronberg near Frankfurt, Germany.
The DFL uses the IPP Visual Toolbox internally, as well, to create graphics for the comprehensive IPP product range and its communication. For example, the visual for Goal Arena, the most recent addition to the IPP product range, was generated using the IPP Visual Toolbox.
“The IPP Visual Toolbox is an efficient design tool the DFL provides to its media partners, enabling them to compose powerful images to enhance the visibility of Bundesliga content across all platforms,” says Dennis Galejski, Head of Product Management – Audiovisual Rights & Media Product at DFL. “And as with all IPP tools, we take pride in ensuring unparalleled ease of use.”
