13 February 2024 – Bundesliga International and Street FC have announced a partnership intended to deliver more opportunities for recreational football players throughout the United States, while also creating additional chances for fans to engage with their favourite Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 clubs.
Street FC hosts 5v5 street soccer games on hard-court surfaces in cities around the USA, with the aim of assembling a giant community full of players and fans. Signing up via the app is designed to make soccer accessible to as many people as possible – providing a level playing field for men and women, girls and boys, and people of all ages and skill levels. With 12 chapters across the USA, including one based at the Bundesliga Common Ground pitch in New York City, Street FC organises more than 400 games per month.
At the heart of the partnership, Bundesliga International will work with Street FC to formulate a roadmap of events for rest of the season, incorporating Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 clubs, partners of the league, and local fans.
I am excited for the next steps and how we can work together to inspire more footballers throughout the US.
Peer Naubert, Chief Marketing Officer, Bundesliga International
As part of the partnership, ‘No One Home’, a social club for football fans founded by Kyle Martino, will host a Bundesliga watch party in New York City for the FC Bayern München v RB Leipzig match (24 February, 12:30pm ET). As well as watching the game, every fan that attends will be automatically entered into raffle to win an all-expenses trip to Der Klassiker: the showdown between FC Bayern and Borussia Dortmund on 30 March, 2024.
Peer Naubert, Bundesliga International Chief Marketing Officer, said: “Around the world, the Bundesliga brings people together: our global fan base eclipses 1 billion people and we have a particularly strong following in the United States, stemming from a player pathway that has seen more US players come to Germany than any other European league, including the likes of Tom Dooley, Steve Cherundolo, and current USMNT captain Christian Pulisic. No doubt new heroes will emerge on the road to the FIFA World Cup in 2026.
“The cooperation with Street FC is a fundamental part of our comprehensive marketing mix to further drive fandom in the US. Through this partnership, we are bringing the Bundesliga closer to fans of all ages and abilities, and I am excited for the next steps and how we can work together to inspire more footballers throughout the country.”
Stephen Francis, Street FC CEO, said: “We are proud to count Bundesliga as one of our earliest and most long-standing partners. They are an integral part of the Street FC community and a huge driver in our mission of making the beautiful game more accessible in American cities.”
