Calendar for the 2021–22 season published
4 December 2020 – The Executive Committee of the German Football Association (DFB) has today approved the calendar for the 2021–22 season. The new Bundesliga season will begin on 13 August 2021, while Bundesliga 2 matches will start earlier on 23 July 2021.
After matchday 17 of the Bundesliga and matchday 18 of Bundesliga 2 (17–19 December 2021 in both cases), both leagues will take a break. The only mid-week matchday of the Bundesliga season will take place before the break and is scheduled for matchday 16 (14/15 December 2021). After the winter break, Bundesliga matches will resume on 7 January 2022, with Bundesliga 2 resuming a week later on 14 January 2022. Matchday 34 – the final day of the 2021–22 Bundesliga season – is scheduled for Saturday 14 May 2022. Matchday 34 of Bundesliga 2 will take place one day later, on 15 May 2022.
Next season, the first matches in the DFB-Pokal will be held between 6 and 9 August 2021. The second round will follow on 26 and 27 October 2021, the third round on 18 and 19 January 2022, and the quarter finals on 1 and 2 March 2022. The semi-finals will be held on 19 and 20 April 2022. The 2022 DFB-Pokal final will take place on 21 May 2022 at Berlin’s Olympiastadion.
