Calendar for the 2023-24 season: Bundesliga to start on 18 August 2023 – Bundesliga 2 to kick off on 28 July 2023
9 December 2022 – The calendar for the 2023-24 season has been set. As revealed in the schedule adopted today by the Executive Committee of the German Football Association (DFB), the opening match of the Bundesliga will take place on 18 August 2023, while Bundesliga 2 will kick off three weeks earlier, on 28 July 2023.
After Matchday 16 in the Bundesliga (19-20 December 2023) and Matchday 17 in Bundesliga 2 (15-17 December 2023), both leagues will pause for the winter break. The season’s only mid-week fixtures will come on Bundesliga Matchday 16. After the winter break, Bundesliga matches will resume on 12 January 2024, with Bundesliga 2 following a week later, on 19 January 2024.
Matchday 34 – the final day of the Bundesliga season – is scheduled for Saturday, 18 May 2024. Matchday 34 of Bundesliga 2 will take place one day later, on 19 May 2024.
The German Supercup, which pits the reigning Bundesliga champions against the DFB-Pokal winners from the previous season, is scheduled for Saturday, 12 August 2023. The first round of the 2023-24 DFB-Pokal will begin on the same weekend (11-14 August 2023). The DFB-Pokal matches featuring the two Supercup participants have therefore been scheduled for 26-27 September 2023. The DFB-Pokal final will be held on 25 May 2024 at Berlin’s Olympiastadion.
