DFL confirms fixtures for the Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 until mid-April
11 February 2021 – The DFL Deutsche Fußball Liga today announced the exact schedule for matchdays 24-28 of the Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 2020-21 seasons.
Matches now confirmed include the second “Klassiker” of the league season: the highly anticipated match-up between FC Bayern München and Borussia Dortmund, which will kick off at 6:30 p.m. CET on Saturday 6 March (Matchday 24). Kick-off times have also been set for the match between current league leaders FC Bayern München and second-placed RB Leipzig on Matchday 27 (Saturday, 3 April, 6:30 p.m. CET) and the clash between the currently fourth-placed Eintracht Frankfurt and third placed VfL Wolfsburg on Matchday 28 (Saturday, 10 April, 3:30 p.m. CET). Meanwhile, the Berlin derby between 1. FC Union and Hertha BSC will be played on Easter Sunday (Matchday 27, 4 April, 6:00 p.m. CET).
Due to laws around public holidays, there will be no Bundesliga match on Good Friday (2 April) on Matchday 27. The encounter between Borussia Mönchengladbach and Sport-Club Freiburg will instead take place on Saturday (3 April) at 8:30 p.m. CET. In Bundesliga 2, the public holiday laws mean that five matches will be played on the Sunday of Matchday 27 (4 April, 1:30 p.m. CET) instead of three.
The current leaders of Bundesliga 2, Hamburger SV, will play two consecutive matches with teams directly below them in the table, namely against third-placed Holstein Kiel on Matchday 24 (Monday, 8 March, 8:30 p.m. CET) and second-placed VfL Bochum 1848 on Matchday 25 (Friday, 12 March, 6:30 p.m. CET). The Franconian derby between SpVgg Greuther Fürth and 1. FC Nürnberg will be held on Sunday of Matchday 26 (21 March, 1:30 p.m. CET).
Two matches that had to be called off at short notice last weekend due to heavy and persistent snowfall and frost have also been rescheduled. In the Bundesliga, the clash between DSC Arminia Bielefeld and SV Werder Bremen is now scheduled for Wednesday, 10 March, at 6:30 p.m. CET. In Bundesliga 2, SC Paderborn 07’s encounter with 1. FC Heidenheim 1846 will take place on Tuesday, 23 February, at 6:30 p.m. CET.
The next set of confirmed fixtures for the Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 are expected in calendar week 12, between 22-26 March.
