DFL releases fixture times for Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 matches

12 July 2023 – The DFL Deutsche Fußball Liga today released the exact schedule for the next set of Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 matches. Fixtures have now been scheduled for Matchdays 1-8 of the 2023-24 season in the Bundesliga, and for Matchdays 3-10 in Bundesliga 2.

As already announced, the 61st Bundesliga season will kick off with SV Werder Bremen playing host to Bundesliga Champion FC Bayern München on Friday, 18 August (8:30 p.m. CEST). The Saturday afternoon of Matchday 1 will feature Bayer 04 Leverkusen against RB Leipzig (19 August, 3:30 p.m. CEST), while the first Saturday evening match of the season will be between Borussia Dortmund and 1. FC Köln (19 August, 6:30 p.m. CEST). The Hesse derby between Eintracht Frankfurt and newly promoted SV Darmstadt 98 will kick off on Sunday, 20 August (5:30 p.m. CEST).

The first home matches of the two promoted teams are scheduled for Matchday 2: SV Darmstadt 98 will host 1. FC Union Berlin, while 1. FC Heidenheim 1846 will welcome TSG Hoffenheim (both Saturday, 26 August, 3:30 p.m. CEST). One week later, the schedule features the classic match-up between Borussia Mönchengladbach and FC Bayern München (Saturday, 2 September, 6:30 p.m. CEST) and UEFA Champions League participants 1. FC Union Berlin and RB Leipzig (Sunday, 3 September, 5:30 p.m. CEST). Matchday 8 includes the Rhine derby between 1. FC Köln schand Borussia Mönchengladbach (Sunday, 22 October, 3:30 p.m. CEST).

For Bundesliga 2, the DFL has already announced the exact fixture list for the first two matchdays. Matchday 3 will include the game between 1. FC Kaiserslautern and SV Elversberg (Friday, 18 August, 6:30 p.m. CEST) and the Saturday evening duel between Hamburger SV and Hertha BSC (Saturday, 19 August, 8:30 p.m. CEST). Matchday 6 will feature not only the Franconian derby between 1. FC Nürnberg and SpVgg Greuther Fürth (Friday, 15 September, 6:30 p.m. CEST), but also the Lower Saxony duel between Hannover 96 and VfL Osnabrück (Sunday, 17 September, 1:30 p.m. CEST).

Matchday 7 of the Bundesliga 2 season will feature an encounter between Bundesliga founding members Eintracht Braunschweig and 1. FC Nürnberg, alongside a clash between the newly promoted teams SV Wehen Wiesbaden and SV Elversberg (both on Saturday, 23 September, 1:00 p.m. CEST). Matchday 9 will include the fixture between FC Schalke 04 and Hertha BSC (Sunday, 8 October, 1:30 p.m. CEST).

The next set of confirmed fixture dates and times for the Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 is expected in the week commencing 2 October, after the draw for the second round of the DFB-Pokal.
