DFL sets exact schedule for next Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 matches
18 July 2024 – The DFL Deutsche Fußball Liga scheduled Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 matches today. Fixtures have now been scheduled for Matchdays 1-5 of the 2024-25 season in the Bundesliga, and for Matchdays 3-7 in Bundesliga 2.
As already announced, Borussia Mönchengladbach will host Bundesliga Champion Bayer 04 Leverkusen on Friday, 23 August (8:30 p.m. CEST) to kick off the 62nd Bundesliga season. In addition, SC Freiburg and VfB Stuttgart will meet on Saturday afternoon of Matchday 1 (24 August, 3:30 p.m. CEST), while Borussia Dortmund and Eintracht Frankfurt will play the first Saturday evening match of the season (24 August, 6:30 p.m. CEST). On Sunday, 25 August (5:30 p.m. CEST), Bundesliga returnee FC St. Pauli will host 1. FC Heidenheim 1846.
The Bundesliga Champion will play its first home game on Matchday 2: Bayer 04 Leverkusen will host RB Leipzig in the evening match (Saturday, 31 August, 6:30 p.m. CEST). Two weeks later, on Matchday 3, Bundesliga newcomers Holstein Kiel and record champions FC Bayern München play the Saturday evening match (14 September, 6:30 p.m. CEST). Matchday 4 includes a clash between Eintracht Frankfurt and Borussia Mönchengladbach (Saturday, 21 September, 6:30 p.m. CEST) and the encounter between UEFA Champions League participants VfB Stuttgart and Borussia Dortmund (Sunday, 22 September, 5:30 p.m. CEST). One week later, on Matchday 5, FC Bayern München will face Bayer 04 Leverkusen (Saturday, 28 September, 6:30 p.m. CEST).
The DFL has already announced the exact fixture list for the first two matchdays of Bundesliga 2. Matchday 3 has now been scheduled, including the duels between Hannover 96 and Hamburger SV (Friday, 23 August, 6:30 p.m. CEST) and SV Darmstadt 98 and 1. FC Nürnberg (Sunday, 25 August, 1:30 p.m. CEST). Matchday 4 will feature the clash between 1. FC Kaiserslautern and Hertha BSC (Saturday, 31 August, 8:30 p.m. CEST) as well as the match between long-established clubs FC Schalke 04 and 1. FC Köln (Sunday, 1 September, 1:30 p.m. CEST). One week later, on Matchday 5, Hertha BSC will face Fortuna Düsseldorf (Sunday, 15 September, 1:30 p.m. CEST). On Matchday 6, FC Schalke 04 will play against SV Darmstadt 98 on Friday evening (20 September, 6:30 p.m. CEST), while Fortuna Düsseldorf will host 1 FC Köln in the Rhine derby (Saturday, 21 September, 1:00 p.m. CEST).
The next set of confirmed fixture dates and times for the Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 is expected in the week commencing 2 September following the draw for the group stage of the UEFA club competitions.
