Second day of the “SportsInnovation 2018”: Focus on “broadcast” and “stadium experience”
08.05.2018 – “SportsInnovation 2018” came to an end on Wednesday focusing on the topics of “broadcast” and “stadium experience”. At the innovation trade fair organised by Messe Düsseldorf in partnership with the DFL, the 47 exhibitors gave further insights into the sports technologies of the future to 923 guests from 21 countries. The agenda also included two more innovation matches, providing a framework for the exhibitors to present their new and pioneering products and services in real time.
Aspects covered under the “broadcast” topic included a look at Augmented Reality graphics from new perspectives as well as the use of numerous camera systems, some of which were used in the production of a football match for the very first time. In addition, the entire production chain from signal generation to broadcast on the various devices was explained by the DFL subsidiary Sportcast. Dr Holger Blask, DFL Director Audiovisual Rights and member of the Executive Committee, Jason Wormser, VP/Production FOX Soccer at FOX Sports US, Stefan Wistuba, Head of Production at HBS, and Knut Feischmann, TV Director, took part in a discussion on the future development of sports broadcasting.
The “stadium experience” schedule featured, among other things, a presentation and explanation of virtual advertising boards, which can be used regularly in live international broadcasts of Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 matches from the coming season onwards. Frank Bohmann, CEO of DKB Handball Bundesliga, Michael Brill, CEO of dcse, and Dr Alexander Steinforth, Director Strategy and Business Development at Fortuna Düsseldorf also gave their views on “The stadium of tomorrow – wishes and needs of users and operators” in a discussion round.
