From 11 February 2022: Hans-Joachim Watzke succeeds Peter Peters in the Supervisory Board and Executive Committee of the DFL
14 December 2021 – Hans-Joachim Watzke will be Chairman of the Supervisory Board of DFL Deutsche Fußball Liga GmbH and 1st Deputy Speaker of the Executive Committee of DFL Deutsche Fußball Liga e.V. from 11 February 2022. The CEO of Borussia Dortmund was elected by the clubs of the Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 at the DFL Members Assembly on Tuesday.
Hans-Joachim Watzke will thus succeed Peter Peters who due to his candidacy for the position of President of the German Football Association (DFB) will voluntarily step down from all posts in DFL governing bodies on 11 February 2022, one month before the DFB Bundestag (11 March 2022). Peter Peters has belonged to the Executive Committee of the DFL since 2004. He was 1st Vice President from 2007. At the DFL General Assembly in August 2019, he was elected as the 1st Deputy Speaker of the Executive Committee and thus Chairman of the Supervisory Board of DFL GmbH following an adjustment of the structure of DFL e.V..
By resolution of the DFB Presidential Board, as 1st Deputy Chairman of the Executive Committee of the DFL Hans-Joachim Watzke will also become 1st Vice President of the DFB in accordance with the statutes.
At the DFL General Assembly next August, all club representatives on the Executive Committee, the Supervisory Board and the Licensing Committee will be elected as scheduled.
