Supercup, match schedules, transfer window: decisions made ahead of the start of the 2024-25 season
6 June 2024 – The German Supercup 2024 will take place on Saturday, 17 August, in Leverkusen. This decision was made by the DFL Executive Committee at its most recent meeting. The Supercup will see German double winners Bayer 04 Leverkusen take on league runners-up VfB Stuttgart. The first-round matches for the DFB-Pokal (August 16–19 2024) featuring the two Supercup participants have been scheduled for 27-28 August, 2024.
The DFL is expected to publish the Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 full match schedules on 4 July, at which point it will become clear who Bayer 04 Leverkusen will face for the season opener (23 August, 2024).
As usual, the Bundesliga 2 will kick off two weeks before the first-round of the DFB-Pokal – and it will be a special season as the league celebrates its 50th year. Furthermore, goal-line technology is to be implemented in Bundesliga 2 for the first time. The DFL Executive Committee also confirmed that the transfer window for the summer of 2024, with clubs able to make transfers from 1 July to 30 August. All major European leagues have agreed on this date. In Germany, transfers are possible until 8:00 pm CEST on 30 August. The winter transfer window will be open from 1 January 2025 until 3 February, 8:00 pm CEST.
